Waternet is the operational organisation of the city of Amsterdam and the waterboard Amstel, Gooi and Vecht. Waternet is responsible for drinking water supply, sewerage, groundwater control, surface water quality, wastewater treatment and water quantity control. Waternet aims to be climate neutral by 2020. One of their customers is Schiphol airport, wanting to become a hotspot for demonstration of innovative concepts and technologies for the urban water cycle. Waternet has listed carbon footprinting, sustainable water supply, energy-water nexus (energy generation), asset management and assessment and benchmarking tools among their priorities.
